Also known as “winter sweet” or “joy of the mountains” Marjoram was known to the Greeks and Romans as a symbol of happiness. Marjoram has been used in culinary dishes, imparting a unique flavor to soups, stews, dressings and sauces. In Germany, this herb is known as the “Goose Herb” for its traditional use in roasting geese. In modern applications, Marjoram is valued for its calming properties and its positive effect on the nervous system when used internally. It also supports both healthy cardiovascular and immune systems when ingested. Marjoram oil has some calming properties which help for the treatment of asthma and respiratory disorders. It enhances the blood circulation in the body which helps to keep the hyperactive person relaxing.

Extraction Method:
Steam distillation process is adopted for the extraction of Marjoram essential oil. Flowering tops of the plant and its dried leaves is used in the process of extraction of this oil. The oil that is obtained has spicy and warm fragrance. The pure oil is of yellow color.
Uses:
This oil has value when used for asthma and other respiratory complaints and has a calming action on emotions. It helps hyperactive people calm down while boosting circulation.
DIY (do it yourself):
1. Dilute 1-2 drops and apply to the back of the neck to lessen tension and stress.
2. Massage 1-2 drops over the area or into the reflex points of the feet 1-2 times a day to help cardiovascular support within the body.
Blends Well With: Basil, Bergamot, Black pepper, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Cypress, eucalyptus, Eucalyptus Lemon, Fennel, Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Peppermint, Pine, Rosemary, Tea Tree, Thyme.
Cautions:
Marjoram oil is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing but should not be used during pregnancy.
