Description:
Cedarwood Atlas essential oil is also known as “Moroccan” Cedarwood Oil. The oil is entirely different chemically and organoleptic properties from the American Virginia or Texas Cedarwood oils. The tree, Cedrus Atlantic, is a pine, not a Cypress (such as the American and East African Cedars). It is believed that the Atlas Cedar is originated from the famous Lebanon Cedars which grow wild in Lebanon and in the island of Cyprus, now protected from being felled for essential oil.
Odour:
Warm, tenacious, balsamic, woody.

Yellowish clear liquid.
Extraction Method:
Steam distillation from the wood followed by fractionation.
Uses:
1. Cedarwood Atlas oil has a relaxing effect on the mind whilst bringing a stimulating and strengthening action to the body. It also has an effective antiseptic and astringent action that can be used to great effect in skincare for acne, spots, and for soothing eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.
2. Used in massage, Cedarwood Atlas oil also helps ease pain and increase joint mobility for sufferers of arthritis and rheumatism, as well as easing general muscular aches and pains. It is also helpful as a diuretic and for treating cellulite.
3. Cedarwood Atlas oil makes useful inhalant oil for all types of respiratory conditions, coughs and colds, and as a general decongestant.
DIY (do it yourself):
1. For eczema and rashes, add eight drops of oil to 20 ml of wheat germ oil.
2. As a stimulant, it can be used in men's products, add 4-5 drops to cold cream and apply after shaving. Should be used with livelier oils like lavender or rosemary.
3. Use 35 ml of Grape seed oil, 5 ml virgin olive oil, 20 drops of cedar wood, rub for 20 minutes on the scalp before bathing. OR add 15 drops to your shampoo bottle.
Blends well with: Bergamot, Chamomile, Clary sage, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Neroli, Petitgrain, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang.
Cautions:
Atlas Cedarwood oil is nontoxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing, making it very suitable for skin application. Some sources advise avoiding during pregnancy. Cedarwood oil shave been prescribed internally, but stomach irritations and nausea have been recorded, never take oil internally.
